About Jen

Hi, I'm Jen,

When you first meet or call me, you will notice that I have a "funny" accent.   That's because I was born and raised in Australia and lived in New Zealand, South Africa and the United Kingdom, too.   (I came to the USA in 1983 after marrying a Buckeye!)

Before retiring and relocating to the Estero area in 2003, my husband and I lived in Cleveland, Houston and Miami.  While in Houston, I returned to school and earned an MA in History at the ripe old age of 50!  Apart from a short stint as a high-school English teacher, I spent the majority of my career working in the fields of radio, film and television production.

I started Cat Sitting by Jen because I absolutely LOVE cats and have learned from personal experience that they do not generally thrive when boarded.  I seem to do very well with shy cats and enjoy seeing them overcome their timidity.  Over the years, I have owned and cared for a variety of felines....with as many different personalities.  Right now, my husband and I share our Estero home with two beautiful kitties.  Marmalade is a feral who eventually chose to move indoors.  Kiki is a rescue kitty who was abandoned in Fort Myers when she was one-day old.  The cats adore each other and their antics provide us with a never-ending source of amusement.

As an experienced, professional and insured sitter, I promise to give your kitties the first-class care and attention that cats (and their owners) both expect and deserve.

"I was extremely anxious about leaving my cats with a sitter for the first time.  However, Jen emailed me detailed reports each day, so I knew they were well and happy."
